A National Philatelic Exhibition organized by South Australian Philatelic Council Inc. under the auspices of the Australian Philatelic Federation Ltd (APF). It was held at the Ridley Convention & Exhibition Centre, Royal Adelaide Showground, Goodwood Road, Wayville, South Australia from August 18 - 20, 2006.
This exhibition has distinct international flavor, with five nations competing in a competition for important honors and bragging rights. Carrying on from the innovation of the Tri-Nations Cup at the last National Stamp Exhibition at the Swan River Stamp Show 2004 in Perth, is the extension to five nations with international teams from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Great Britain, and United States of America. In Adelaide, the entries consisting of five entries of five frames each from a different class, as well as a youth entry have been submitted by each team.
An exciting and diverse range of stamps and philatelic materials in 753 competitive frames and 31 non-competitive frames were shown in Adelaide STAMPEX 2006. As 2006 marks the 70th anniversary of the first national philatelic exhibition held in Adelaide and the 150th anniversary of responsible government in South Australia, special postmarks were used during the show to commemorate these events.
